Marisa has a deep understanding of classroom literacy practices, curriculum and intervention strategies gained from over 20 years experience.

M Ed (Language & Literacy), M Ed (Special Education), B Ed, Dip Teach.

Marisa's experience includes classroom teaching, learning support and Reading Recovery. Marisa has also held numerous senior administrative positions, in addition to being a Reading Recovery Tutor and Education Advisor (Year 2 Diagnostic Net). She has extensive experience supporting students and educators, and is well known for her warm, friendly and highly professional manner.

Marisa has facilitated numerous and varied literacy workshops across central and northern Queensland, and is regularly invited into schools to work with students, teachers, teachers’ aides and administrators. She has also initiated and developed reference material for teachers, to support literacy development across the early and middle years in addition to the student appraisement process.

Marisa assumes an active role in education and has organized a number of professional development events including Reading Recovery and literacy conferences. In addition to her role as a conference organizer, Marisa is also invited to attend conferences as a facilitator and trainer and has participated in numerous literacy reference groups.

Marisa has a strong commitment to improving community literacy standards and takes an active role in supporting student literacy development in at-risk communities.

Marisa is a member of several district reference groups and undergoes regular ongoing professional development.

Marisa lives in paradise - North Queensland - with Craig, a keen fisherman and Mischa the cat.
